Control Panel
Double click on Network and Sharing Center
You will see a Local Area Connection,
Double Click on it
Then select Properties
Click on Internet Protocol Version V(TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties
If your computer us currently using DHCP (Obtain an IP Address Automatically is checked), then check the bubble for Use the following IP address and enter the following:
IP address: 192.168.126.253 (this is one digit different than the IP address of Moxa box)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
If Use the following IP Address is already selected and there is already IP Information from your network filled in there, it is VERY IMPORTANT to note all of the information that is in each field on this page or better yet, make a screenshot or print it out before changing it.
Then click OK, and then Close to exit the dialog boxes.
Now you can talk to the Moxa box from your computer and proceed with the steps at the beginning of this document to set it’s permanent IP address and COM Port Number.
After you have successfully changed the IP address on the Moxa to something that fits your network, you need to change the IP address for your computer back to what it was.
Go back to the Local Internet Connection/Properties/Internet Protocol TCP/IP/Properties and set it back to Obtain IP Address Automatically (or re-enter the IP information that was there before you changed the IP Address)
Click on Desktop Tile
Right click on Network & Internet access in lower right corner of screen
Click on Open Network & Sharing Center
Under Connections, double click on Ethernet
Choose Properties
Select Internet Protocol Version 4
Click Properties

Click OK
If using classic Startup Menu click Start, Settings, Network Connections
If using Windows XP new Startup Menu, click Start, Connect to, and Show all connections
Right-click on Local Area Connection and click Properties.

For Moxa Serial Device Servers, enter:
IP address: 192.168.126.253 (Default IP address of Moxa box is 192.168.126.252)

For Quatech Devices, enter:
IP address 192.168.192.169 (IP address of Quatech box is 192.168.192.168)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
For Comtrol devices, we use the Mac Address to communicate with Comtrols, so the IP address of your computer is not as important.

Then click OK, and then Close to exit the dialog boxes.
