Contact Fagor a few days ahead of time and they will be ready for you when you are on site.  If you wait until you are on site, then you have to contact Fagor technical support and wait in the queque until an agent is available.  I contacted them ahead of time and told the representative when I’d be on site and in front of the machine, he gave me a direct number to call and contact him when I was ready.  The Fagor representatives do travel, so sending an email early will help ensure someone is available when you are on site.

Fagor 8065 machines require the installation of FactoryWiz Fagor Link Application on the CNC controller.  This application can be found here FactoryWiz Dropbox\Product\FactoryWiz Monitoring\v2019\CNC Files\Fagor 8065-8070.
download the file setup.exe
put on a flash drive and copy to the CNC controller
VErify that the file is not 'blocked'
run the file

Fagor delivers each unit with a protected compact flash type disk that is write-protected except for the folders or files that must be unprotected for the normal operation of the CNC. The changes made to protected folders or files will be operative until the unit is turned off and back on, the CNC will then restore the initial configuration. The changes made to unprotected areas of the disk will remain. The disk has been pre-configured with three access modes, each offers a different protection level. The unit shows the active work mode with an icon on the task bar of the operating system, next to the clock. When the CNC is turned on, the status bar shows the active work mode with icons.

  1. Administrator mode

    1. Access to the administrator mode is enabled with the validation code ("Open system" software option). If you don't have this software option, (i.e. you have a "closed system") you will not be able to access the administrator mode and, therefore, you will not be able to install third-party software.  This mode must only be used to install non-Fagor software, to install the CNC (also possible from the setup mode), to update the operative system or change the system configuration. The CNC application does not start up in this mode. . The unit shows the following image on the desk, with red background, indicating the active work mode and warning that it is not a protected mode.
    2. Protection level - There is no protection level in administrator mode, the whole disk is unprotected.
    3. Protection password - Access to this mode is password protected.  Before starting the unit up in this work mode, it will request the access password which is generated by a Fagor representative.

In order to make changes to the CNC controller and install the FactoryWiz Fagor Link Application for monitoring, you will need to be in administrator mode.  If you try to install the service when you are not in admin mode, it will work, but as soon as power is cycled on the controller, it will be deleted due to the hard disk being write protected.

  1. Setup mode
    1. The setup mode must only be used to update the CNC software and to set up the machine; it does not allow installing third-party software. This mode may be used to access the operative system.  The unit shows the following image on the desk, with yellow background, indicating the active work mode and warning that it is not a protected mode.
    2. Protection level. The setup mode has an intermediate protection level where everything that may be changed while setting the machine up is unprotected; folders ..\MTB, ..\USERS, ..\DIAGNOSIS and the Windows register.
    3. Protection password - Access to this mode is password protected.  Before starting the unit up in this work mode, it will request the access password which is generated by a Fagor representative.
  2. User mode
    1. Part-programs must be saved in the "..\USERS" folder; the CNC considers the files saved in other folders as temporary files and will be deleted when the CNC is turned off. Files from flash, pendrives, ethernet, etc. can only be managed from the explorer of the utilities mode.
    2. Protection level. The user mode has the maximum protection level where only the folders and files that may be changed during the normal operation of the machine are unprotected.
    3. Protection password - Access to this mode is not protected with a password.
All Fagor machines are shipped to the customer so they boot up in User mode.

Work mode change (diskMonitor window).
  1. Having the CNC application turned off, the work mode change is done using the [ALT][D] (confirm this shortcut) or by double clicking the icon indicating the active work mode, on the task bar of the operative system (next to the clock). In either case, the unit shows the DiskMonitor window to switch from one work mode to another.
  2. Having the CNC started up in any work mode, the [ALT][D] hotkey shows the DiskMonitor window to change from one work mode to another.
  3. The desired work mode may be selected from the utilities mode, from the softkey menu.
  4. or press CTRL-ALT-INS (verify this shortcut with the manual).  The icon in the task bar will tell you what mode you are currently in.

If you click on "restart windows in administrator mode" you will get a message that says something like "closed system, option not available."  You have to use CTRL-SHIFT-INSERT (or is it CTRL-ALT-INSERT? need to confirm this with Nathan) to bring up the Fagor Mode Password screen.  (insert clip from cell phone pictures here)

Need to get the machine in Administration mode.  This mode is password protected and requires contacting Fagor for support.  The fagor rep will have you try to start the controller in admin mode and it will prompt you for a password.  There is a code that will be displayed that you need to tell the representative and he will give you a password generated from that particular code.  Once you are in admin mode, it will continue to restart in admin mode.  You need to start it up in user mode to get it out of admin mode.  Once in admin mode, you can install the FW service and all is good.

Keyboard Shortcuts
