The operators tablet user interface is a highly customizable
part of FactoryWiz. Allowing users to only see what they want to and only
capture what they require.
One of the main challenges when deploying tablets to the
shop floor is locking the tablet to only things you want them to be able to
access.
For iOS devices, we recommend enabling
guided access and
configuring
restricted
access Mode. Guided Access will disable the home button meaning the
operator cannot exit the browser. Restricted Access mode will limit what
websites and content they can view; we normally only whitelist the FactoryWiz
server. Password required to exit.
1. Open
Settings from the Android home screen
2. Connect to the company wifi or network that has
access to the FactoryWiz server.
3. Open the Play Store. Please note you will
require a google account to do this. We cannot provide you with one.
4. Login
to your Google Account
5. Search for KIOSK BROWSER and install it
6. Once installed, click the home button. If prompt
what to do, either open Android or Kiosk, select one time Android.

to know your server ip address. Go to http://10.10.63.5/tablet
8. Select the machine the tablet is destined for and
the profile you want to use and continue.
9. Copy the bookmark URL (this is important)
10. Click the home button on the tablet, select
always open Kiosk Browser
11. Select the 3 dots in the top right to access the
settings.
12. The default pin is 0000
13. This is the main settings menu
15. Click GENERAL settings and KIOSK URL. Clear out
the text in the text field and paste in the Bookmark URL you copied from the
standard browser in step 9 and click OK.
16. Still under GENERAL settings, set the TIMEOUT

21. Remove your Google Account from Android settings
menu.
To exit KIOSK BROWSER
once it is running, tap anywhere on the screen 4 times in very quick succession
> enter the PIN 1866 > Exit Kiosk Browser
To assign a machine to the tablet your setting up, select

FactoryWiz allows users to have multiple profiles (views)
for different machine types.
In Figure 10‑3 we can:
- Create a new profile
- Edit a profile
- Duplicate a profile
- Delete a profile
To
Create a new
profile type in the new profile name and click
Create. See
Profile Editor to edit
the newly created profile.
To Edit an
existing profile, select from the dropdown list and click Edit.
To Duplicate,
type in the new profile name, select the profile you want to copy from the
dropdown and click Duplicate.
Once you have finished making any chances in the editor, Log Out
In the profile we can add and remove widgets and totally
customize the tablet appearance and functionality.
Widgets are added from the top menu, here you can also
control colors, color scheme and orientation of the tablet.
Rotation controls
which orientation the tablet is designed to be in. Please be aware, there is a
profile for both landscape and portrait. If you change from to the other, you
will need to create a new profile for the new orientation, it does not copy
over.
Add Widget adds
widgets, email buttons, idle buttons and mode buttons
Make sure you Save
Settings before exiting the
Profile
Editor.
Inside System
Settings you can control color schemes and menu locations.
Email Widgets are used to create a communication link
between the operator and relevant departments. For example, you could add a
button called CALL SUPERVISOR, this widget is then configured to email
supervisor@yourcompany.com with
the subject
Machine 1 needs assistance. For information on how to configure
email profiles and the information they send, see
Mailing
Lists.
Add the ADD button to add a new Email Widget to the view.
After clicking ADD you will see the Email Widget in Figure 10‑5 in the main view. Click the gear icon in the top right configure.
Enter the Widget Text you want the operators to be able to see. Select the Email Profile you want it to be sent to. Select the Color you want the Email Widget to be.
To save the widget click
You
can idle reasons to the main view, in order for this to be effective you must
disable the tablet jumping to the Idle Reason screen when the machine is not
running, see System Settings to do this.
The purpose of Idle
Widgets is to put some (not all) idle reasons on the main view so operators
only need to click one button to set the idle reason. We recommend showing just
your most popular idle reasons.
Like the Idle Button
Widgets above, the Mode Widgets are to make it quick and easy to set the
mode.
To Move the
Widget, click anywhere* in the control and drag it into position. It will snap
into position. This position is show with a yellow box.
*For the timeline, select the control on the left.
To Resize widgets,
click and drag the double arrows on the bottom corners. Release the mouse to
stop resizing.
Like with the moving the widget, the resize will snap to
grid.
Most Widgets have their own individual settings, ranging
from “Can the Operator Click this” to the “Color”.
An explanation of what each icon on the widgets mean.
This
is the most common setting. It disables operators from clicking on editing the
information in that control
In Figure 10‑10 there is a checkbox to enable or disable the operator clicking on the Part ID
Widget. If enabled the operator can manually type in a Part ID.
Control
when the Widget should transition from Good to Bad colors and the color that
should be show.

Show Idle Reason will display the reason in the Status Window. Enable Entering Idle Reason allows the operator click and show idle
reasons.
Control when the color will change and to what color.
Configure how the Widget will access the DNC tablet. At
present this is a separate webpage.
Widget Text is
what the operator will see. URL is
the full link to the DNC web client. We recommend opening in a new window as it
is a separate webpage using the Redirect
Type.
Change the reporting period of the timeline.

These are generic settings that take precedent over any
relevant widgets.
Here you can control the Language pack used on the tablet. There are three color themes you can use: Light, Contrast or
Dark. You can control where the menu appears on the tablet with Menu Types.
The colored status boxes control when color the CNC Status
Widget is for each status. We recommend using the standard colors here
Status Definitions Explained.
Redirect to Idle
Reason Page if not running is used to control what happens when the machine
enters a non-running status.
Remember to click the Circle with Check in the upper right hand corner to save your changes.
It is possible to force the operator sign in with or without
an additional password or PIN code. If this feature is enabled, then no other features of the tablet
can be used until an operator signs in with their username and password. See System Settings screenshot above where the User password is required option has been enabled.
