Setting Up Email Mailing Lists with FactoryWiz Monitoring

8.4.1 Email Mailing Lists

FactoryWiz™ Monitoring can be configured to send automatic email messages reporting events, such as status changes or alarms, to selected users. This section describes how to configure your SMTP server for emailing messages from FactoryWiz and how to create, edit, or delete message templates.

Mailing Lists

The Mailing Lists page is where you create email message templates and their distribution lists. The left pane will show any existing templates shown in numerical order by list number.  The right pane is used to display the template details.

Add Mailing List

Clicking the Add Mailing List button will bring up a template for a new mailing list on the right side of the page.  You can use this template to set up an automated email list.  Details for the template are shown below.

Variables For Subject/Body

Variable can be used in the subject and body of the email message to help customize each email with specific information from FactoryWiz.  The variables available are shown below.

·         {CNC} = Include machine name

·         {DESC} = Include event title

·         {DATE} = Include date & time

·         {PARAM} = Include any other data by inserting {PARAM}

The values enclosed in curly brackets, “{ }”, are variable names. Entering “{CNC}” at the beginning of the subject line, for example, instructs FactoryWiz™ Monitoring to begin the subject line of the email with the CNC name of the machine that the message refers to, while “{DESC}” will then add the name of the reported event.

The information provided by the param field is not configurable. It is simply dependent on the context of the message. If the message is an alarm, the additional parameters may be an alarm number or text. If the notification description is a macro variable change, the parameter might be the new value of the variable.

Subject

Here is where you enter the subject for the automated email list.  This will be the main subject line of the email that users receive.

Body

Here is where you enter the body of the email.  This will be the main body of text that is sent in the email.

Recipients

Enter the email addresses of the users who will receive the email in the Recipients field. Separate the addresses with semicolons - do not add any names, aliases, or extra characters. You may not, for example, cut and paste a list of addresses directly from a contact list, if the list contains extra characters. Contact lists from many applications often look something like this:

Jane Doe <j.doe@factorywiz.com>, John Smith <j.smith@factorywiz.com >

FactoryWiz™ Monitoring cannot use this format. You must paste or enter just the email addresses, separated only by semicolons:

j.doe@factorywiz.com;j.smith@factorywiz.com

Starts/Ends

Here is where you need to specify the dates and times that a message may be sent.  If you want messages to be sent at any time, select “00:00” to “00:00” from the dropdown lists for Start and Ends.

If you only want to send messages between certain hours, such as from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1700), set those hours in the Starts and Ends box.

Days Of The Week

Here is where you need to specify the days of the week that a message may be sent.  Click the check box next to the days that you want the emails to be sent.  If you do not want messages sent on certain days, such as Saturday or Sunday, do not click the boxes next to those days.

Add Recipients Button

If you use multiple recipients, FactoryWiz will try to send to each recipient in order, starting with list #1.  If the time of sending is outside of the time set for that recipient, the system will move onto the next recipient.

Save/Cancel

When you are done configuring the new email list, click Save at the bottom of the window to save the configuration and the new email list will show up in the list of available mailing lists.

Click Cancel if you want to return to the Email Configuration window without adding a new email list.

Edit/Delete Mailing List

When you click on a mailing list that is shown in the list of available mailing lists, the parameters for that mailing list will be displayed on the right side of the page.  From here, you can edit any of the parameters for that mailing list.

To delete a mailing list, click on the mailing list you want to delete.  This will display the email template on the right of the screen.  At the bottom, there are buttons available for user interaction.  Clicking the Delete button will delete the current mailing list.  Confirm the deletion and the mailing list will be removed from the list of available mailing lists.
