FactoryWiz Monitoring Database Configuration: Backup, Retention, and Management

8.3.2 Data Retention

The Data Retention tab allows you to select how long FactoryWiz™ Monitoring stores the data it collects from your machines.  You may set different retention periods for productivity data and event data.

  1. Productivity data is anything that goes into an OEE calculation. This includes which parts the machine has run, how long each part took to run, who was operating the machine, and the amount of time spent in running, paused, and idle states.
  1. Event data is everything else that is monitored by FactoryWiz™ Monitoring. This includes offset changes, tool changes, PMC bits, and alarms. Generally, productivity data is kept longer, to support productivity analysis and reporting, while event data is purged more often.

To change the retention period for any of the data types shown, click on the arrow by the data type to display a drop-down list of retention periods available.

You may retain data for periods ranging from 1 month to 48 months. If you do not want a specific type of data purged automatically, you may disable automatic purging by selecting Disabled. If you select Disabled, that data will be retained until it is manually purged.

Select retention periods for all the data categories, and then click Apply to save the changes.
